Society has certain expectations about how genders are supposed to be and how they differ. Mostly without realizing it, we all use language that carries assumptions about abilities, ambitions and preferences based on gender. Communicating via smartphone is a prime example of where these biases can surface in written language.

 
STEREOTYPE is an AI powered smartphone keyboard extension concept, making gender coded language visible by using Natural Language Processing. It analyzes the text being typed according to it’s context, then identifies instances of gender-coded language and provides suggestions for alternatives. This allows users to become more aware of biases in a judge free environment to make conscious choices about the language they use.
